Welcome Letters 2011

Dear Guests and Exhibitors of AstanaLeisure 2011,

On behalf of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, I am happy to welcome you all to the 8th Kazakhstan International Tourism Exhibition AstanaLeisure 2011!

The exhibition is held on our professional holiday, the World Day of Tourism, and in the anniversary year for our country, the 20th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Tourism is a top priority for Kazakhstan. Development of this sector aims to set up an up-to-date, efficient and competitive tourist complex to be used as a basis for tourism development, integration in the world market and furthering of international cooperation in the travel sector. Professional events such as AstanaLeisure, which will be held for the 8th time in our national capital, play a significant role in effective promotion of Kazakhstan as an attractive tourist destination and in a sustainable development of the national tourism industry.

As Kazakhstan possesses a unique natural potential, we have every opportunity to develop various types of tourism: cultural, environmental, extreme, business, health, etc. Every year, AstanaLeisure demonstrates our country’s huge tourist potential presenting the tourist capacities of regional offices for tourism, physical education and sports and those of national cities. It offers outlooks and priorities for developing inbound and outbound tourism. Alongside with the tourist potential of Kazakhstan, AstanaLeisure presents the most demanded destinations in the autumn and winter tourist season.

May all exhibitors and guests enjoy good meetings, effective negotiations, high spirits and success in the 2011-2012 autumn and winter tourist season!

Т. Yermegiyayev
Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan

Dear Exhibitors and Guests of the 8th Kazakhstan International Tourism Exhibition - AstanaLeisure 2011,

I am happy to welcome you in our national capital!

Tourism development in Astana – like in all other parts of the country – is a national policy priority. The number of tourists in 2010 grew by 12.2%. Overall in Kazakhstan, travellers numbered 16.6 million last year, including 4.7 million foreign guests.

This event for the 8th time demonstrates the best trends in inbound, outbound and domestic travel. I believe that the exhibition will give yet another kick to travel development in our city and provide everyone with an opportunity to learn about its growing potential.

Astana is a symbol of our openness for the East, West, South, and North. With its exceptional flavour, our city integrates achievements of the world architecture and the national culture of Kazakhstan. The architectural ensemble and places of interest in our city clearly demonstrate the will of the people of Kazakhstan for accord between variety, progress and beauty.

President Nursultan Nazarbayev said that “Astana must play a special role in the national tourism and be a centre of attraction for tourists from all over the world.” Good progress has already been achieved in that area. The number of tourists from different countries keeps soaring, and we therefore obtain new friends for Astana.

The Kazakhstan people have always been famous for their hospitality, and the guest is sacred for our home. The Kazakhs say: “A home visited by a guest has a good luck.” We are confident that tourism can also become a national feature for our young country which turns 20 this year. During its history, Kazakhstan has built a new capital in the heart of Eurasia which has turned into an international and cultural centre of not Kazakhstan alone but also of the whole region.

A booming city, Astana has great outlooks for its further development and can become one of the world tourism hubs offering unique pastime opportunities for its guests.

I suggest that the exhibitors appreciate the promising travel industry of Astana and the whole country.

I hope each of you will have a good time at this exhibition.

Imangali Tasmagambetov
Astana City Deputy Akim
